Women, Men = Human

Ah yes, the picture above displays Emma Watson, a well-known actress in the movie industry. Heard of her before? A few of her iconic characters, which includes Hermione Granger from Harry Potter and Belle from Beauty & the Beast. Sounds familiar now? She is also well-known to be an inspiring leader in the fight for women's rights and gender equality.

Now, let's get this clear. Women's rights do not mean women are more valued than men, it refers to the rights that promote a position of legal and social equality of women WITH men. In the meanwhile, gender equality is defined as when people of all genders have equal rights, responsibilities, and opportunities. No bias to any gender whatsoever.

Allow me to provide you a few examples from the Internet.

  1. Despite it being the 21st century, only 6 countries, I repeat 6 countries, gave women equal legal work rights as men.

  2. Men are harshly criticised for crying or speaking about their personal mental health issues. When told, they were given comments like 'You're a man. Why are you crying?'

  3. Over 380 million women and girls are living in extreme poverty.

  4. Men would be looked down if they do not eat a high income to provide for their family or treat their loved ones.

All of these examples and many more should be stopped as soon as possible. A few ways to stop gender inequality would be to...

  • Share household chores and childcare equally (It is not only the mother/women's responsibility to nurture and ensure cleanliness)

  • Pay and demand the same salary for equal work (A women is as capable as a men)

  • Educate yourselves no matter which gender you are ( It does not mean you are a man ans the unfair treatments does not affect you whatsoever, means you aren't bothered to educate yourself and will sweep the issues under a rug. Vice versa for women)

  • Be more open to men displaying sad emotions/crying. It is an emotion, not a characteristic displayed as weak.

Women or Men, we are all equal.
