At the crossroads, where all ends meet.
I met a wayfaring stranger,
A giant: tall, and old and wise.
I looked up at him; and him down at me.
And for years he was all I could see.
I grew in his footsteps,
as he grew in my heart
And then one day,
I realized with a start:
Now I am a giant:
Taller, stronger, wiser
With a school of ducklings, following.
Soon, they'll be giants,
Taller, Wiser,
The burdens of life on their shoulder.
And we look back and see:
The miles and miles from whence it all began
